Question by : What mechanism behind weight gain in antipsycotica?
What mechanism are the causing the weight gain and fat archievement common in treatment with the most antipsycotical medications?
people says it’s impossible to loose weight when going on antipsycotic drugs, even if they training much, only by eating a strictly diet. Is there something happening on the cortisol, or metabolic way that harms the body? Is the brain controlling the body’s metabolic function?

no one seems to know this answer. antipsychotics are still on the learning curve for most psychiatrists. most antipsychotics are antiepileptics so the mechanism for weight gain when used as antipsychotics, which means a much larger dose, is still questionable. the one thing that is known is that these meds tend to increase a persons blood sugar concentrations. this is a pre-cursor to diabetes and if not treated properly, weight gain and/or diabetes is the likely product.
