Find Out Where You Can Use A Treadmill

A treadmill is a great way to exercise. If you belong to a gym, you probably have seen a lot of treadmills lined up ready to help you lose those extra pounds. Are you taking advantage of this versatile machine?

You can use treadmills to warm up before you start your weight resistance program. Or you can use it to warm up before your aerobics class. You can warm up with it by using the walking speed. Spend about five minutes in the walking speed mode and you will get your blood circulating to start your exercise routine.

But you can also spend your whole workout time on the machine itself. And if you have not tried using the many exercise options, you can experiment yourself or have one of the gym staff help you out.

You will be surprised at all you can do on treadmills. The average machine has a fat burn mode, an aerobics mode, and a cross training mode. When you choose a particular mode you will be asked to enter your age and your weight. This way the machine can adjust to your heart rate.

For instance the fat burn mode is concentrating on burning fat, as the mode suggests, so you do not want to have a heart rate so high that you burn glycogen rather than fat. If your heart rate goes above a certain fat burning level, the machine will slow down so your heart rate will go down.

You can of course put the device in the quick start mode. This is where you choose the speed of the machine and the incline level which is a great option for those who want to get into great shape fast. You cannot beat running uphill if you want to get big and strong.

There is nothing like running uphill to get big and strong in a short time span. This is why a lot of police academies train their cadets near hill areas. If you are starting out however, make sure to begin slow. You do not want to go too fast. Take it easy your first few sessions.

You can raise the incline by increments of 0.5 degrees. When you want to go up one level just press the incline button up. Then you can work up to raising the incline and the speed at the same time.

You had better be ready for a challenging workout though when you use the speed increase and incline raising button at the same time. But you will be stronger and healthier over time. That is right, over time. This is not a race, so take it easy before taking on too much machine.

You can purchase your own treadmill for your home use. You can find great deals on various models. Just take the time to find the right one for your price range. Now go out and get on that machine and start burning off some calories. You will be glad you did.
