Intermittent Fasting Success

Intermittent Fasting, or IF for short, is based around taking a break from eating on a semi regular basis

Taking a day off from eating every 48 hours is probably the most traditional method of using Intermittent Fasting. The process works as follows. You would eat as normal on a Thursday, fasting on Friday, eat normally on the Saturday, and then Fast again on the Sunday

While the method I describe above will result in weight loss so long as you are below the daily calories your body needs. I feel it is too strict to follow long term. In my case I had a large amount of weight to lose and I would not like the idea of having to fast on a weekend all the time. Intermittent Fasting every other day is does not provide flexibility for social situations in my view.

I believe that we have to fit our diet around our lifestyle, not our lifestyle around out diet. The key to using fasting for weight loss is flexibility.

Eating only during a set period of the day, also known as a condensed eating window, is another popular way of using intermittent fasting for weight loss. The eating window is often around a 5hr time period, though again this flexible.

After almost 2 years of using Intermittent Fasting , not only as a way to lose weight, but to also maintain my current weight, I believe the most flexible and and successful method on intermittent fasting is the 24 hour break from eating once or twice per week. This allows you to still eat every day, and provides enough flexibility to fit around your lifestyle. Diets fail because they restrict and deprive, but in the two years since i became a retired deiter and have used I.F. I have not felt like that all.
