Losing weight and fixing posture – weights and cardio?

Question by FieldGefreiter: Losing weight and fixing posture – weights and cardio?
I have really let myself go for the past few months, and I’ve gained a lot of weight. I used to be 180 lbs at 6’0 and I was working out every day. Now I’m 212 pounds and my six pack became a 1 pack. During this time, I was busy with schooling and my genetics caught up to me. I’ve been slouching since I started gaining weight ( I can’t study with a normal posture) and I changed physically, in a bad way.

I’m thinking of starting the following program. I know specific light-weight exercises that will help stretch tight muscles and shorten overstretched back muscles. I would like to know your opinion about it:
Monday – Intensive weight lifting (back and biceps) for 30-40 minutes, followed by 1 hour of slow running cardio.
Tuesday – posture exercises
Wednesday – Intensive weight lifting (chest and triceps) for 30-40 minutes, 1 hour of cardio
Thursday – posture exercises
Friday – Legs and Abs weight lifting (30-40 mins), 1 hour of cardio.
Saturday – posture exercises
Sunday – triceps, forearms and abs weight lifting, 1 hour of cardio

I’ll be also rotating high-low-lower-lowest carbs diet at the same time.

Do you think that by doing this routine I will be able to lose 30 pounds of fat (even If I lose some muscle, it’s worth it) for 5-6 months ?
Also, would you recommend doing something else (exercises or fixing my chair and desk) so I stop slouching and walking like a caveman?

Thank you.

I’m no expert, but I like your program. You might want to just add more protein,
remove unnecessary carbs (sodas, donuts, bread), tending toward Dr. Atkins
approach. See if it works for you; it’s not for everyone.

Talk to a Chiropractor or Physical Therapist about posture, get recommendations.
Some of them will know what you need. Show them how you sit, where your
computer is (height), chair height, seat back angle. Maybe a different chair would
help.
