How To Lose 30 Pounds By Running

Running for weight loss is probably my all-time favorite when I want to lose 30 pounds; it is actually my preferred method. With all of the different types of running, I would say the most effective is interval running.

What is interval running? In a nutshell, you perform several sprints with short rests in between, instead of running for 20 – 60 minutes straight. Of course, there are many variations to these sprint workouts, so you really can’t get bored with it.

If you’re contemplating getting into shape and losing a few pounds, take it easy at first. This type of workout doesn’t require much, except for a pair of shoes and a high school track. If you go on Sunday to a local track, you should be fine. There shouldn’t be anyone there.

For those just starting to get into shape, jog lightly around the track twice. Make sure that you do some stretching after that. Now, start walking around one of the turns. When you reach the straight part of the track, jog down it. At this point you start walking again. It’s so easy – walk and then jog, and then walk and then jog. Try this for four laps (one mile). After you have completed all six laps (the warm-up and workout), hydrate yourself and then jog or walk (if you have to ) for two final laps. Make sure that you pace yourself so that you can do all eight laps as they is written here. It is imperative that you finish the workout, regardless of how hast you run.

Protein bars or shakes are a great after-workout snack – make sure you eat after your workout. This is important for fat loss and muscle retention.

For experienced runners, perform the same workout, This time run faster when you get to the straight-aways. You should get a feel for your target speed.

We’re not trying to blast through the workout, we want to make sure the workout is completed. I like to do this workout a few times per week. If I can’t make it to the track, I’ll run through my neighborhood. The workout can easily be adjusted to your needs.

Running to lose weight is one of my best workout strategies. It’s simple and only requires a pair of shoes. Take it easy at first. That way you come back for more!
