If you are like most people who want a ripped stomach you’d have seen the infomercials, done the thousands of crunches and ab exercises, followed by the endless cardio only to discover that none of it is working for you.
In reality, you only need three main ingredients to get a flat and ripped stomach. The truth about getting six pack abs is that you do not need to build a bigger stomach, but rather decrease the amount of fat covering your abdominal muscles.
Instead of trying to build more defined abs with ab exercises, which would obviously help make your abs bigger, but not burn off the abdominal fat covering them, you should be doing intense workouts and ingesting proper food to burn off the fat.
In order to burn fat you need a high metabolism and the first thing to boost your metabolism is intense resistance training. You should be doing resistance training 2-3 times per week, while lifting heavy weights and mostly do compound lifts.
The other thing you need is a good cardio component to burn additional fat covering your abs. You should be doing high intense interval training to get the most bang for your buck here. My recommendation is 30 seconds of hard maxed out work followed by 30 seconds of slow work for a total of 10-20 minutes tops. I try to do 16 minutes total. Perform HIIT on non-resistance training days.
Last but not least, your nutrition plan. Try to eat as much natural and organic foods as possible. These foods include fruits, vegetables, lean meats, dairy and healthy fats. I try to eat as much foods as possible with only “one ingredient”, orange, chicken breast, etc.
That is my personal success recipe for getting lean and ripped. Now all you need is persistance, determination and TIME. Keep going with your plan and you’ll be ripped sooner rather than later, and remember to never give up or quit.
