Question by lala84: Is the weight gain from birth control something that can be controlled by dieting or is it inevitable?
I want to try the Nuva Ring, but I really don’t want to gain any more weight. I have been on other forms of birth control, all of which I have gained weight on. Is the weight gain from the hormones, or is it because I have more of an appetite? I have tried dieting while on birth control and it doesn’t work. Any 411 or advice? Thanks in advance.

Not everyone can gain weight on birth control, but like you, i did as well. I asked my doctor about it, and she told me its from retaining fluids. I’m no longer on birth control, and i notice that i am no longer bloated or anything. But a good way to control your weight is by working out, eating healthy, and knowing that its not fat you are putting on, just water weight. Good luck!
