What is the best way to prepare for Navy SEAL/BUDS training?

Question by Super_J: What is the best way to prepare for Navy SEAL/BUDS training?
I want to prepare enough so I can gaurantee I am able to pass my SEAL qualifiers with ease. I also wan’t to make sure I am prepared to endure a long way through Hell week. Someone suggested I use a Paleo diet while I train. Will this really benefit me in my training? Any advice on good ways to prepare for BUDS ahead of time would be helpful.

BUD/S is now enrolling more SEAL canditates than ever with classes approaching 300 men per class. The Navy has also become much more selective about who they send to BUD/S as well.

My advice would be to get in top notch physical condition. You need to be a strong runner, do a lot of push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups. Go to the Navy’s website and look up the PST requirements. Understand that the requirements of the SEAL PST are just the bare minimum to pass. If you are serious about getting into BUD/S, you need to score competatively on the test, be at the front of the pack!

Keep all of this in mind, speak to a Navy recruiter, and get in touch with a SEAL motivator. They will also help you prepare for BUD/S.

I would also recommend that you take a prep course like “Extreme SEAL Experience” owned by Don Shipley (retired SEAL). His courses give you a taste of what BUD/S and SEAL team is like, and the only instructors there are actual Navy SEALs themselves.

Lastly, take no specific training tips from anyone other than actual Navy SEALs themselves. Beware of phonies too! There are a lot of them!
